When a plane crashed into a residential neighborhood in Riverside on February 27 -- killing three, destroying two houses and setting off a raging fire -- public information professionals from the City of Riverside responded with a unified effort to manage the intense and immediate media demands. The City’s firefighters, police officers, communications team and emergency services personnel mobilized quickly to gather and manage information about the fatal incident. Teamwork and technology enabled Riverside to live broadcast details of the emergency response around the world and assure anxious residents at home that the incident was being handled professionally.
